Cutera® CoolGlide® Vein Therapy

The Cutera® CoolGlide® laser treats a broad range of vessels from tiny spider veins to deep blue reticular veins quickly, safely, and effectively. Patients with dark, light or tanned skin can experience outstanding results.

The system delivers pulses of light energy, which cause the blood within the vessel to coagulate, eventually destroying the vessel. Treatments can remove small, facial veins (or “telangiectasia”), spider veins and large blue leg veins with excellent results. Knotty varicose veins are not good candidates. The CoolGlide® therapy also addresses blood blisters or “hemangiomas” and has shown success with port wine stains and other vascular lesions.

Most patients experience a stinging sensation as the pulses of light energy are delivered to the area of treatment. Although not required, most patients opt to use a topical anesthetic prior to treatment. Some redness or bruising may occur lasting 24 hours to a few days, and in rare instances, some blistering. Larger treatment areas may experience these affects as well as a tan or brownish treatment for weeks or even months following the procedure. Patients with leg vein treatments may be advised to wear supportive hoses for a short period of time. Normal activities may be resumed after 24 hours.

One to two treatments are usually required with a 3-4 week separation. Visible improvements can be seen within two to six weeks of treatment; however, final results may not be seen for several months.
